Trade Press Photography Prize 2019

I was awarded the Trade Press Associations Photography Prize in June, together with photographer Signe Marie Andersen and the Norwegian Nurses Magazine for our pictures in their themed issue on isolation and health. I made a photostory on the experience of being incarcerated in the high security special isolation cell block in prison. Not very easy when you are not allowed to photography any people or recognizable details of the specific place, so I instead focused on the place seen from the perspective of an inmate.

The jury said:
"This years photography prize is shared between two photographers who have each in their own way illustrated a theme that is both challenging to picture and places strict restrictions on how close the photographer can go. Both photographers solve this task with minimalist and symbol-laden imagery using a surprising visual language and double meaning that peeks the readers interest to delve into the magazines theme.
