På vegne av CYAN mørkerom kuraterer jeg en utstilling for Nordic Analog Network under Oslo Negativ fotofestival
Oslo Negativ er en fotofestival ledet av Preus Fotomuseum sammen med Møllersamlingen. Festivalen samler både private gallerier og kunstnerstyret visningsteder og grupper i en større samling for hele fotomiljøet i Oslo.
Ved årets festival organiserte jeg gruppeutstillingen “Resident Host” som viste fotografene som driver mørkerommene i som er med i Nordic Analog Network. Utstillingen var satt opp av Cyan mørkerom i Oslo som jeg leder og utstillingen viste også fotografer fra mørkerom i Trondheim og Bergen i tillegg til Danmark og Finmark. Utstillingens tittel henspeiler på det faktum at utstillerne alle er vertskap for nettverkets program med kunstneropphold. Sammensetningen viste hvor variert det analoge fotomiljøet er både i valg av temaer, motiv og prosesser som folk arbeider med, samtidig som alle også er opptatt av å undersøke selve fotomediet sine særegenheter.
Som en av de 13 utstilte fotografene viste jeg bilder fra serien Remains, med et sett av lumenprint fra grenseelvene i Finnmark og Troms. Prosjektet ser på hvordan et landskap kan opleves som et historisk sted, og disse bildene viser avtrykk laget av vannet i elvene som er utpekt som grenselinjer på kanten av landskapet. Og vi kan så velge å se vannet på grensa mot Russland som energisk og farlig mens Altaelva som en mental grense mot samisk land tegner et pittoresk bilde av et imaginært landskap.

On behalf of CYAN darkroom I curated an exhibition for the Nordic Analog Network at the Oslo Negativ photofestival
The Oslo Negativ photofestival is run by the Norwegian museum of photography together with the private Møller art collection. Gathering both commercial and artist run galleries as well as artist groups and collectives it blends the atmosphere of art fair, festival and informal meeting place for the whole photography community.
At this years festival I organized the group exhibition “Resident Host” showcasing the photographers running the community darkrooms in the Nordic Analog Network. Curating on behalf of the Cyan darkroom that I run there were also photographers from the darkrooms in Trondheim and Bergen as well as Copenhagen and Klitmöller in Denmark and Helsinki and Jyväskylä in Finland. Titled to reflect the fact that the exhibitors were all hosts of the Networks artist residency program, the exhibition showed how the analog community works with a variety of subjects, processes and materials while still looking into the medium of photography itself.
The works of 13 photographers were on the walls and also included a set of my own lumen prints, made in the border rivers around the northern Norwegian region of Troms and Finnmark from the series “Remains”. The projects look at how a landscape can be seen as a place of history and these riverprints show the imprint of the water at what has been designated as the edge of the landscape, and how we can choose to read the Russian border water as more energetic or dangerous while the sami indigenous river water creates a scenic looking landscape print.
