Exhibitor at the Pingyao International Photofestival in China
This autumn I was invited to take part in an international group exhibition at the Pingyao International Photofestival in China.
Pingyao festival is the largest photofestival in China, set in the UNESCO protected city in the Shanxi province.
This year one of the international exhibitions was “Where Time`s Echoes Repeat” curated by the German photographer Thomas Kellner. I met Kellner many years ago, at my first international photo event, the London Photography Fair. And then we havemet up at many other festivals over the years where he usually has been a reviewer and I an attending photographer. I really like his work and I have known that he occasionally curates photography shows at different festivals but this is the first time I have been invited to join.
My project “Empirical” was included in the group show, and fit right in with the theme of photographic recounting of memory and selective interpretations. The other exhibitors in the show were an international group of photographers, Falk BrvT, Jolana Havelková, Galina Kurlat, Ralf Litera, Ari Salomon and Frauke Thielking.
Utstiller ved Pingyao Internasjonale fotofestival i Kina
I høst ble jeg invitert til å delta i en internasjonal gruppeutstilling ved Pingyao Internasjonale Fotofestival i Kina.
Pingyao festival er den største fotofestivalen i Kina og holdes i en UNESCO listet by i Shanxi provinsen midt i landet.
I år ble den internasjonale utstillingen “Where Time`s Echoes Repeat” kuratert av den tyske fotografen Thomas Kellner. Jeg møtte Kellner for første gang for mange år siden, ved min første internasjonale fotoevent, som en utstiller ved London Photography Fair. Siden har vi truffet hverandre flere ganger på andre festivaler, ofte mens han har vært portfolio reviewer og jeg som en deltagende fotograf. Jeg er stor fan av hans eget fotografi og vet at han jevnlig kuraterer andre utstillinger ved forskjellige fotofestivaler, men dette er første gang jeg har blitt spurt om å delta.
Mitt prosjekt “Empirical” ble inkludert i gruppeutstillingen og passet godt inn i temaet om fotografiske hukommelse og selektivt minne og tolkning av visuell informasjon. De andre utstillerne var en blandet internasjonal gruppe fotografer med Falk BrvT, Jolana Havelková, Galina Kurlat, Ralf Litera, Ari Salomon og Frauke Thielking.
